Lunch anyone? This is a stomach pumping from a trout on the Muskegon River in late January.

What's the key component to this photo?

This trout was selectively taking molting stones flies in conjunction with everything else. It pays to fish a white nymph in the winter.

Come learn this and other things like it with one of the many schools offered by  the Pere Marquette River Lodge.

2010 Schedule

Hands on Trout Schools

The first evening we will cover trout on a season long basis. Then in depth on aquatic insects that steelhead feed on, how to best imitate them and techniques used to present them in the most natural way possible. We will also cover tackle and rigging in depth, and we will discuss techniques for fighting big fish on light tackle. On the second day we wade the Pere Marquette River with a guide/instructor for some hands on instruction. We will point out the kinds of lies that hold trout & steelhead, and help you to master the casting techniques. An evening classroom session of watch and practice as the guides tie up some proven trout & steelhead patterns.

On the final day we will split up into groups of two and take a guided float trip along the scenic Pere Marquette River.
