Naknek river camp, rapids camp, Alaska 2008 Report

As all fishing adventures begin with long lines in the airport, hours upon hours in the air, terribly close connections with bag transfers and that little voice wondering if you packed all the right gear.

That first step at your final destination and the only important question left is when can I cast my first line in new water and should it be egg pattern or a streamer.

The Rainbows were big and so were the Bears too!

During my stay I had the opportunity to fish several creeks and rivers flowing into the Naknek River System. Idlevien creek was an unbelievable fishery. There is a lot to be said for a skated dry.

Margot Creek was a absolute treat to fish.

Salmon, Oh sure caught a couple of those.

The silvers were fresh and the sockeye were mixed new and red

Everyday spent in Bristol Bay was a blessing.

The quality of fishing seemed to get better every time you hiked up stream a little more, you didn’t have to hike the farthest you just had to know where to cast.

Some days the fishing never seemed to end only the strength in your  arms.

And never ended.

The fishing was amazing just as any Alaskan adventure should be. Jim and his family are wonderful people and I am indebted to them for taking me in. The end of everyday you came home to a family not just a lodge

The End!
