Guide - Baldwin, Michigan
Year
Round Guide on the Pere Marquette, Manistee, Muskegon, and
White Rivers
Ed is a great edition to our lodge. He graduated from Michigan
State University with degrees in both Fisheries & Wildlife
and Zoology. While attending MSU he worked on several graduate
research projects studying stream ecology and fish biology
throughout Northern Michigan. "I was very fortunate to
be able to study (and play) on some of our more notable rivers
such as the Pine River, Manistee River, and the Au Sable River
while I was at Michigan State University". Ed was also
involved in graduate research at the University of Michigan
studying salmonid recruitment in the Muskegon River. Through
this education and wealth of experience Ed has acquired a
deeper understanding of trout/steelhead/salmon behavior, life
histories, ecology, and fish habitat preferences. Ed has also
logged over 100 - 150 rod-days per year since 1992. His fishing
experience includes distinguished rivers such as: the Upper
Manistee River for trout; the Au Sable River for trout; the
Big Manistee River for steelhead, salmon, smallmouth bass
and pike; the Betsie River for trout, steelhead and salmon;
and of course our home water here on the Pere Marquette River
for trout, steelhead, and salmon. His favorite types of fishing
are for trout on the Upper Manistee River during the summer
months, and fall steelhead on the Pere Marquette River. "I
enjoy every aspect of fly fishing whether pulling streamers
for large aggressive fish, casting dry flies for surface feeding
trout, or nymphing the endless pools and runs on the PM in
search of trout and steelhead". He is available year
round to take you fishing on some of his favorite water found
throughout Northern Michigan. He is an accomplished fly fisherman
and a very talented guide who is willing to share his extensive
knowledge with you. Fishing with Ed is truly an educational
experience!
